The idea for Indigo and Whales came from my journey. Back when I worked in handbag manufacturing, we processed countless containers of low-cost, plain black bags for big-box retailers. While those bags served their purpose, they lacked creativity and individuality. After moving to the United States, I found myself inspired by the charm of small-town main streets, where each shop reflected its own personality. That contrast sparked an idea—what if everyday bags could reflect the same spirit?
Living in the U.S. has impressed upon me that people don’t always want the exact same thing. They’re proud of their character, their hometown zip code, their own uniqueness.
